Week 36, 2026

Summary

I attended the follow up classes post धीमहि, and also started making plans for my परिचयः exam preparations.

धीमहि Follow Up Classes

We had an eight week course where we were to expound futher on काव्यम् and व्याकरणम् classes that we began during धीमहि. I personally felt quite pleased that I belonged to the group of people who were pre-advanced or futher along in their journeys. The in-person classes were quite fascinating, but I am glad they started the follow-up ones via Zoom. वसुवजः महोदयः and गोविन्दः महोदयः taught us, and I started collecting my notes over at TippaNi. I got exposed to श्लोकचतुष्टयम् from अभिज्ञानशाकुन्तलम् that are very famous, and I got strongly reminded of the fun I had learning English literature in school, except this time it felt even more beautiful. I learnt about a few different छन्दः, and I am hoping that I can take upon a challenge of memorizing these and thoroughly understanding them. I do wish that one day I am able to appreciate more of such works in detail.

परिचयः Early Plans

From having flipped through some of the book and from looking at other online resources like Vyoma’s course, I am hoping that I will be able to get through most of the book in the next couple of months. The main bottle necks would be the new vocabulary and the forms familiarity. The most realistic and scientific way to do this would be to spend some time making personalized Anki decks that I can work on whenever I get time. But knowing me, I’ll probably not be very regular with them. Let me see if I can motivate myself to do this collection after going through the book once so that I can work on building the repository for long-term retention. This way, I satisfy my initial thirst for new information, while putting enough distance between the short term memory from my Pravesha exam review. I will then go through both books and spend some time collecting these snippets for storage and review later.

जाह्नवी is coming

Next weekend is जाह्नवी camp at New Jersey, and I am looking forward to it. Last year, my entire trajectory shifted because of जाह्नवी. I wonder if I will face something similar this time.
